OFFMAP: From wanderlust to a boarding pass

OFFMAP runs small-group trips, experiences, stays and retreats across India. Branditify designed and built its platform: an editorial site for discovering trips, a booking engine that holds seats and takes payment, a boarding pass, and an admin to run it all.

The project

Travel commerce without the template feel

Most travel sites are a catalogue with a form at the end. OFFMAP needed discovery first and commerce second, joined properly.

OFFMAP is a travel company for people who want to travel slower: scheduled group trips, short experiences, stays and retreats, mostly in the Himalaya and across India.

Branditify designed and built the whole platform. The public side reads like an editorial travel magazine; behind it, a booking engine knows which departures exist, how many seats are left and what each traveller still owes.

Around that sit a customer account, a boarding pass for the day of departure, and an admin where OFFMAP’s team edits every trip, date and page themselves.

What did Branditify build for OFFMAP?

The full travel platform: the editorial website, the trip and experience catalogue, a seat-based booking engine with payments, a customer account, a QR boarding pass and the admin that runs it.

Is OFFMAP a website or a booking platform?

Both. The website is where people discover trips; the booking platform underneath holds seats, takes the advance or the full amount, tracks the balance and issues the pass.

What kind of company is OFFMAP?

A travel company running small-group trips, experiences, stays and retreats across India.

One journey

From a mountain on the home page to a code at the bus

Every screen below is the platform itself. Follow one traveller from the first photograph to the morning of departure.

  1. The OFFMAP home page: Travel slow, go Offmap! over a mountain, with four trip cards filling up now

    Discover

A story first: the home page leads with a place and the departures filling up now.

  2. The OFFMAP departures board: a month rail, a September calendar with departure days marked, and trips with a Book now button

    Pick a month

Every scheduled departure for the season, on a month rail and a calendar.

  3. An OFFMAP trip’s Day by day section: four numbered days, the first open with places, meals and where you sleep

    Read the days

Each trip, day by day: where you are, what happens and where you sleep.

  4. The first booking step for a Zanskar trip: a six-step rail and a list of departures with dates and prices

    Reserve a seat

Six steps: departure, travellers, account, details, review and payment.

  5. The payment choice in the OFFMAP booking: pay 30% to book, or pay the full amount

    Pay 30% or in full

Either option confirms the seat; the balance waits in the account.

  6. An OFFMAP boarding pass: the trip, route, departure dates, batch, reporting point and time, travellers and a QR code

    Board

Paid in full, the traveller gets a boarding pass with a QR code.

How does discovery lead into booking?

Every trip card, departure and itinerary ends in a booking action. A traveller picks a dated departure with its price and books that seat, rather than sending a blank enquiry.

Did travellers have to sign in before paying?

Yes. The third booking step is the account: travellers sign in with a one-time code, so every booking, balance and pass belongs to someone.

Discovery first

Four ways in, one catalogue

Group trips, experiences, stays and retreats each have their own pages, and one catalogue behind them.

An illustrated map of India with OFFMAP’s states marked, from Kashmir and Ladakh to Kerala
Destinations on a map you open state by state.
OFFMAP Experiences: Learn something. Or just go for a day, with filters from On foot to Wildlife and two expedition cards
Experiences, filtered by how you want to spend the day.
  • A map you open

Destinations on an illustrated map of India, filtered by group trips, experiences, stays or retreats.

  • Experiences by mood

Short trips filtered by how you want to spend them: on foot, under canvas, in water, on snow, in the air, or with wildlife.

  • Trips as stories

Each trip page reads like a feature, with a day-by-day itinerary: where you are, what happens, meals and where you sleep.

How are trips, stays and experiences organised?

As separate families (group trips, experiences, destinations, stays and retreats), each with its own pages and filters, all drawn from one catalogue that the admin edits.

The booking engine

Four things a travel booking has to keep apart

A trip on a page is not a seat on a bus. The engine keeps each state separate, so nothing is promised before it is true.

  1. A trip listed is not a seat available

Seats belong to dated departures with a capacity. A trip without exact dates cannot reach checkout.

  2. A seat chosen is not a seat held

While a traveller books, the seat is held safely for a while, so two people cannot take the last place.

  3. A payment started is not a booking paid

Booking and payment are tracked separately, and a payment counts only when the gateway’s confirmation checks out.

  4. Booked is not boarding

The boarding pass is issued only when nothing is left to pay.

The first booking step for a Zanskar trip: a six-step rail and a list of departures with dates and prices
Step one of six: pick a departure.
The payment choice in the OFFMAP booking: pay 30% to book, or pay the full amount
Either option confirms the seat; the difference is what is left to pay later.

Did Branditify implement payments?

Yes, the payment flow, built for Razorpay: orders are created on the server, the gateway’s confirmation is verified before a payment counts, travellers can pay a 30% advance or the full amount and settle the balance from their account, and refunds and manual payments are recorded in the admin.

The boarding pass

A QR code that knows only what it has to

On the morning of departure, the trip leader needs to check a name, not read a file.

An OFFMAP boarding pass: the trip, route, departure dates, batch, reporting point and time, travellers and a QR code
The boarding pass, issued once the trip is paid in full.
The OFFMAP pass verification page: valid boarding pass, with the trip, departure, batch, party size and reporting point
What the departure point sees when it scans the code: enough to check a name, nothing more.
  • Issued at zero balance

The pass appears only once the trip is paid in full, and is checked again before the PDF downloads.

  • Nothing identifying in the code

The QR carries a token, not a name. Scanning it opens a page with only what a departure point needs: the trip, date, batch, party size and where to report.

  • Kept up to date

If a departure’s details change, the pass is reissued automatically; if the booking is refunded, it is revoked.

Was a boarding or QR flow built?

Yes. Each fully paid booking gets a boarding pass with a QR code and a downloadable PDF, and a verification page that tells the departure point only what it needs.

The admin

OFFMAP runs its own catalogue

Every family on the website has a guided editor, laid out like the public page it changes: Browse, Open, Edit, Preview, Publish.

The OFFMAP admin Departures screen: a form to add one departure or a run of them, above month columns of departures
Admin: departures for the next twelve months, added one at a time or in a run.
The OFFMAP admin editor for a group trip, with tabs from Basics and Day by day to Departures and Search
Admin: a trip edited in the same order as its public page.
  • Content

Group trips, departures, experiences, destinations, places, stays, retreats, journals, pages, the homepage and media.

  • Operations

A dashboard of what needs attention today; bookings with search, manual payments, refunds, cancellations and pass reissue; bookings created by the team; customers and coupons.

  • Control

Four staff roles with their own permissions, and an audit log of changes.

Was an admin system built?

Yes. OFFMAP’s team edits every trip, departure, stay and page, previews it and publishes it themselves, and manages bookings, payments, customers and coupons from the same admin.
